It does what it says it does, and seems to work as designed. But it does not make restoration easy if you have a good number of backed up datasets. Data from a single backup is not easily available since each category is stored separately. Does not synchronize phone data to phone; only a SIMPLE BACKUP. If you backup several times, then when you restore, you could get all the files and data you deleted on your phone restored back to your phone unless you clean up the data in the cloud before restoring all. Probably not a good solution to restore the entire phone to a new phone or after a factory reset unless you want to spend a lot of time in the cloud searching through all the backed up data, category by category, to decide what to keep and what to toss BEFORE YOU RESTORE. Application Data from the Android>Data folder is NOT backed up, so you could lose a lot of data history from apps that store their data in the Android folders.
Update: I tried restoring my messages and it didn't restore everything. Some messages were restored disconnected. This is disappointing. This app is no longer any good. I will delete. What happened? This app is no longer working properly since the updates. The design is pleasant, but the functionality has been displaced. I can't see any of my saved messages! And thanks for the heads-up letting us know about a potential data ruining update. This is absolutely ridiculous!
1. Cannot delete old devices that no longer exist. 2. Cannot delete several backed-up photos. They get a snowflake image on their thumbnail, which I suppose means they're 'frozen' or 'locked' - but no option to delete them. 3. Trying to delete them through a web browser on a PC leads to ambigious message about how Whatsapp images can't be deleted on a PC. Trying to delete them on the Android App results in failure. 4. Horrid looking user interface. 5. Slow even on a very fast internet connection and high-end smartphone. Unacceptably slow. Almost as if your files are backed-up on some kid's PC from 2002.. 6. Opening images of files on a PC is slow and then opening another file is even slower - for example small to medium sized PDFs. 7. Files that have been deleted sometimes remain. 8. It is impossible to delete all of your successive contacts back-ups. The app keeps showing at least one back-up and it's impossible to delete individual contacts from any list. 9. Tries to look like it's a Google application when it's not. 10. Cannot easily select a batch of files to be deleted. You must click them one at a time! That's absurd! 11. Complete waste of time considering all of the other cloud back-up options available today. Avoid this app!
