Editing for more updates: I chose iPlum to help me manage 2FA sent via text. I updated my rating from 2 stars to 1 because it is even failing here. When a 2FA code is only good for a few minutes, the fact that hours pass before the texted code comes thru on the iPlum app is simply unacceptable. For the fees I'm paying for this service, this basic function should be more reliable. _______ I've had iplum for personal use & have not been pleased. 1) I don't hear calls or texts come in. I just
Cheap and has all the features of calling, texting, and voicemails. However, the app often fails. For example, when I get a call, I can hear the iPlum app ring, but nothing popping up in order for me to answer the call. Some of my texts don't go through, so I always have to double-check and resend. A few times I've had the app answer the call on its own, very scary for privacy reasons. Contacted customer service about this last issue and they just said it's nothing on their end.
This app is a great alternative for those without dual SIM phones, or someone wishing to port a local number and use it as VOIP. My only issue has been that the notifications for calls don't always push, and the calls will go straight to my voicemail. Also, it's been taking longer than expected to port in my local number. Besides those small hiccups, it's a pretty good alternative to traditional mobile services.
