Comments about VLC for Android Android Version
Update: following a dev's advice, I updated the app, and now everything seems working fine. Old feedback: Crashes on an audio track search; doesn't normally react on a double-click to skip music - pauses instead, rarely does what needed. Used to be very good some years ago. Old Upd.: crashes on launch from Android menu or once a resume button on headphones pressed, and prints a message that "org.videolan...VLCApplication keeps crashing".
What happened? It used to be the best player, now it's the worst. Some videos show the opening frame for up to 5 seconds while I'm hearing the audio then suddenly it'll start showing the video. So basically I can't watch the first 5 seconds of videos. Then when it is playing it'll just randomly pause despite not being paused. It's not buffering, it just found something it didn't like and decided to give up. If I rewind 10 seconds and hit play it'll continue, but without any audio. I give up.
The app is awesome! Before writing this review, I was asked to answer whether the app's description fits the actual app. And it completely does! It really is the best option out there if you want a music and video-player that is easy to handle, as well as performant and offers very high compatibility. I tested the streaming and local network features and they worked flawlessly. About the setting I liked that it is possible to switch themes on the fly without restarting the app. In other apps that is necessary but here the process of choosing and comparing themes is much more user-friendly. What I would like to be added though is an option to set the size of the grid when you set your library view to grid mode. The ability to set tags and covers would be a nice addition too. I really like this app and the fact that it's COMPLETLY FREE
