• Unmatched protection — We offer strong phishing, spam, and spying/tracking protection.
Industry Leading Security Features
Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.
Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.
Open-Source Cryptography
Proton Mail's open-source software has been thoroughly vetted by security experts from around the world to ensure the highest levels of protection. Proton Mail only uses secure implementations of AES, RSA, along with OpenPGP, while all of the cryptographic libraries used are open source. By using open-source libraries, Proton Mail can guarantee that the encryption algorithms used do not have clandestinely built-in back doors.
Proton Mail in the press:
“Proton Mail is an email system which uses end-to-end encryption, making it impossible for outside parties to monitor.” Forbes
“A new email service being developed by a group from MIT that met at CERN promises to bring secure, encrypted email to the masses and keep sensitive information away from prying eyes.” Huffington Post

Comments about Proton Mail: Encrypted Email Android Version
The app routinely fails to send emails, saying the message was saved to drafts, only for the message then failing to open there as well. Web version doesn't have this issue, but pretty sad for an email app to be this unreliable in its key function. The error occurs whenever I try to send a mail by clicking a link in the browser and then selecting Proton Mail as my e-mail app of choice. When I hit send, the app closes and never sends the mail, only giving an error notification after a few minutes
I find the app functionality and UX almost equivalent to the website version, the website version being a bit easier to use. Very comprehensive menu and privacy settings that are missing from other email providers. The app development keeps up with a good pace. In the future I would like to see the feature of privacy settings synchronised between the app consecutive updates and the website user preferences in a more clear way. Overall nice app!
Had app for a couple of years & it's always been slow & seems to have a few glitches, one example: when you use the swipe function to delete an email the email doesn't dissapear straight away or sometimes not at all. But in the past few months always says "failed to save online draft" while typing an email, then says it's failed to send, but sometimes it does send... at times only sends part of the email. Now most emails freeze part way through typing then disappear, works fine 2nd time round.
